A St James' Park Gray squirrel eating from visitors' hands.
The Red Squirrel populations in Britain, Ireland and more recently, northern Italy, have declined and become regionally extinct in recent decades, primarily because of competition from Gray Squirrels (introduced from North America). The recent colonisation of mainland Europe from Italy by Gray Squirrels is expected to result ultimately in the extinction of the Red Squirrel over most of Europe. (Source: Wikipedia)

this bores me to tears.
Posted by: x.heaton at April 12, 2005 02:55 AMI think it was rather an amazing moment. Close contact with a squirrel in the middle of the town.
